Mike hails from a small western Oklahoma town, Cordell, where he graduated from a class of 53 students. Mike has both a biomedical degree and a law degree. In fact, he was one of the youngest students enrolled when he got his law degree from Tulsa University College of Law. Within six months, he passed both the Oklahoma Bar Exam and the South Carolina Bar in 1991.
